In April two of our PhD students successfully completed their doctoral studies at the Centre. Samah Jassam, whose studentship was funded by The Higher Committee for Education Development in Iraq, successfully defended her thesis titled ‘Role of CD15 and CD15s in the cellular mechanisms of cancer cell metastasis from lung to the brain’ on the 22nd of April 2016. Cara Valvona, who was funded by Brain Tumour Researchdefended her thesis on ‘LDHA as a potential therapeutic target for medulloblastoma’ with similar success a week later. We would like to congratulate them both and wish them well in their future brain tumour research careers.
